This Page will not sit well with some or even most systems, but in the Filipino Arts it is #1. In the years that I have spent in one art or another one common thing keeps coming up. No matter what art you study, you will find kicks, punching, or grabbing. No matter what the style, it all takes the use of the limbs. In the P.K.S. system, we draw heavily from the Filipino arts focus on the destruction of attacking limbs. If you destroy the arm, the hand can't grab, form a fist, or hold a weapon. If you destroy the leg, the leg can't kick, knee, or trap your leg or foot, and can't even hold up the body that it is under. This mindset is not what you will see in the latest M.M.A. match or the movies. Yet, it is what has made the F.M.A. so powerful in the past centuries. This combative method is not for sport, and you don't have to be a muscle man to make it work. But, you will have to change the way you look at a fight. In military terms, you need to take out the observation posts before you can commit to an attack, (A.K.A.) takedown. If you fail to take out the limbs at the start, you will face them from behind the lines and they will have as much power as they had before you enterd. Tactically this means that you will fight a two front war. Why? We at P.K.S. believe that it is an advantage if we eliminate the opponents abuility to counter our attack at the start. This is the main objective in the F.M.A. and P.K.S.. Take out the attacking limbs and you will defange your opponent. They simply can not continue to attack. "A snake with out teeth, can't bite".
